NEWDELHI:Four unidentified men barged into the house of a businessman at south Delhi’s Garhi area, near East of Kailash, and fled with jewellery, cash and other valuables worth around ₹1 crore in the early hours of Sunday.

A case of burglary has been registered at the Amar Colony police station. However, no breakthrough could be made in the case till Wednesday evening, even as the suspects were captured entering the house and coming out with stolen items in CCTV cameras installed at the businessman’s home as well as that of his neighbour’s.

The businessman, Manish Sachdeva, runs a toy shop at INA Market. In his complaint, Sachdeva told police that on Saturday night, he went to watch a movie in Noida with his family members. The house was locked from the outside.

“We left home around 10pm and returned around 2.30 am. We noticed that the main door’s central locking system was broken. Our entire house was ransacked. The diamond and gold jewellery, cash, and other valuables kept in two almirahs were missing,” said Sachdeva, adding the burglars had bolted the main doors of three neighbours from the outside before breaking into his home.

According to Sachdeva, three of the four men seen in the footage could be the same suspects who had committed a similar burglary in his neighbourhood some days ago. “Both the cases are still unsolved,” he said.

A senior police officer said they have launched a probe and were rounding up several criminals involved in similar crimes in the past for clues.
