NEW DELHI: Two men have been arrested for robbing a truck carrying merchandise worth ₹20 lakh belonging to Flipkart, an e-commerce portal, police said on Thursday.

The robbery was reported from Dhulsiras Chowk in Dwarka when the consignment was being moved in a truck to the IGI Airport in the early hours of February 8, said Ram Gopal Naik, DCP (crime).

The goods — mobile phones, garments and footwear worth Rs 20 lakh— have been recovered, the officer said.

Police investigated the case on a complaint from Rajeev, a driver working for Flipkart, the DCP said.

“Rajeev was driving the truck towards the airport when four men in two vehicles intercepted it. They tied Rajeev’s limbs and gagged him using a cloth,” said the DCP.

They drove the truck to an isolated spot where they moved the goods to a similar vehicle they had brought along, the officer said. They drove away in their vehicle leaving the empty truck and a tied Rajeev behind.

The officer said a tip-off earlier this week allowed the police to arrest two suspected robbers, Gaurav Kumar and Guddu Kumar. “They told us that the goods were moved to a rented shop in Narela. We raided the shop and recovered the goods. We are working to arrest the two other robbers involved in the crime,” said the DCP.
