23yearold found dead with throat slit in Burari, police detain three
NEW DELHI: The body of a 23-yearold man, with his throat slit, was found near the Yamuna river in north Delhi’s Burari on Thursday night.
Police suspect that the man might have been killed due to personal enmity . Investigators for now have ruled out robbery as a motive because the victim’s cell phone and money were found intact. Police have detained three men and are questioning them.
Harendra Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police, north, said that the police learnt about the case around 9pm when a local resident spotted the body and called the control room. The caller told police that a man was injured in an accident. A police team immediately reached and rushed the man to Sushruta Trauma Centre, where he was declared brought dead.
“A deep cut of around 12 cm was noticed around the victim’s neck. We found a mobile phone and R 1,500 in his pant pockets. We identified the victim as one Chand Mohammad, after an officer called his parents using the mobile phone,” said Singh.
Chand lived with his family in Mukundpur village near Burari. He worked as a labourer in a workshop. His family members told police that he had left home on Thursday afternoon to attend the wedding of his friend’s sister in Burari.
Police investigation revealed that Chand was last seen consuming alcohol with some friends at a neighbour’s house.
