Princeton alumnus set up a centre to study modern India
NEW DELHI: Sumir Chadha, an alumnus of Princeton University, has established a centre at the US university to help scholars and students from across disciplines understand contemporary India.
The MS Chadha Center for Global India, named after Chadha’s grandfather, a physician who served as the director general of health services for India, will broadly explore the current economic, political and cultural aspects in India.
“India’s development since I attended Princeton University 25 years ago (1993 batch) has been remarkable in many areas — economic progress, entrepreneurship, innovation and the arts,” Chadha said.
The centre will be led by a distinguished scholar to be announced at a later date, the University said in a press statement.
