GURUGRAM: Residents of Bellevue Central Park 2 Condominium Association, Sector 48, on Sohna Road have demanded demolition of a 300-metre wall raised by the developer eight years ago. They said the wall is blocking access to the township’s central park.

On Sunday, the residents of Bellevue Towers held a peaceful protest against the district town planning (DTP) Gurugram, which, they claimed, had failed to demolish the wall in question. They said that in August 2017, the department of town and country planning (TCP), Haryana, had issued an order to DTP enforcement Gurugram, asking him to demolish the wall.

They said DTP enforcement has held several meetings with Bellevue representatives in this regard and every time, the developer is granted an extension on some pretext.

Central Park 2 is a huge residential complex, spread over 48 acres, and was developed by Shweta Estate Private Limited , a reputed real estate company, after obtaining a licence in 1998. The residents said the developer built nine towers of Bellevue Towers by 2009-10 and started giving possession to homebuyers.

“We moved the Punjab and Haryana high court and even the Supreme Court, which directed TCP Haryana to resolve the problem. In August 2017, former principal secretary TCP, Arun Kumar Gupta issued an order to demolish the wall,” Umesh Gupta, a resident who had posted a complaint at the CM Window in April, said.

Rajender Sharma, district town planner (DTP), enforcement, Gurugram, said, “If the developer fails to bring down the wall by June 30, we will raze it by July 2.”

Rakesh Malhotra, vice president, Shweta Estate Private Limited, said, “In the interest of safeguarding some other under-construction buildings in the area, we have requested for some more time.”
