GURUGRAM: Civic officials have directed private developers Unitech and Ansal to start transferring their land to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) at the earliest if they are unable to submit the monetary sum required to fix the civic amenities in the areas developed by them.

The direction was issued during a video conference between the developers and the civic officials on Friday.

However, during the conference on Friday, the builders and civic officials could not come to an agreement on a final date for the transfer of eight private colonies — DLF Phase 1-2-3, Sushant Lok Phase 1, Palam Vihar, Suncity, South City 1 and 2.

On August 9, directions had been issued to the developers to transfer the land by August 31.

As reported earlier, MCG estimates that ₹14.12 crore is required to fix amenities in DLF Phase 1, ₹9.43 crore for DLF Phase 2, ₹11.89 crore for DLF Phase 3, ₹41.28 crore for Sushant Lok 1, ₹19.32 crore for Palam Vihar, ₹4.25 crore for Suncity, ₹17.95 crore for South City 1, ₹11.76 crore for South City 2 and ₹21.56 crore for South City 2.

“During the meeting, representatives of DLF and Suncity said they will provide the requisite amenities prior to handing over the maintenance of private residential colonies in their custodianship. Ansal and Unitech officials said they could neither carry out the necessary repair nor could they pay the monetary sum to the MCG,” ND Vashisht, chief engineer of MCG, said.

“Hence, it was decided that the two developers could transfer their licensed or unlicensed land to the MCG instead. They have been directed to submit a report on such land by Monday,” Vashisht said.

HT ran a report on Friday say- ing that the developers are unlikely to meet the deadline for the transfer of colonies as a lot of work on addressing deficiencies and providing amenities are pending. According to MCG officials, during the meeting on Friday, officials of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) extended their support to the transfer process saying they would act as facilitators to ensure the maintenance of private colonies is transferred to the MCG at the earliest. Apart from MCG and DTCP officials and private developers, officials from PWD and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) were also present at the meeting on Friday.

“We have already offered to hand over our unsold properties to the MCG, as we are unable to transfer funds to provide amenities to residents in Sushant Lok and Palam Vihar. We will act as per the MCG’s instructions,” a senior executive of Ansal API, said.
