Work on Gzb cricket sta­dium to be­gin next month

With the Ut­tar Pradesh gov­ern­ment hav­ing given its nod for land ac­qui­si­tion in Ghazi­abad, work on con­struc­tion of the coun­try’s big­gest in­ter­na­tional cricket sta­dium is all set to com­mence in De­cem­ber, ac­cord­ing to an of­fi­cial.

“Prepa­ra­tions are on for hold­ing the sec­ond ground-break­ing cer­e­mony for 150 projects worth ₹1 lakh crore, in­clud­ing the world-class cricket sta­dium at Ghazi­abad,” the of­fi­cial, not au­tho­rised to speak to the me­dia, said.

Chief sec­re­tary Anup Chan­dra Pandey has di­rected of­fi­cials to hold one-on-one meet­ings with in­vestors to fa­cil­i­tate the roll­out of projects. UP CM Yogi Adityanath had an­nounced that the sta­dium would have a seat­ing ca­pac­ity of 75,000, mak­ing it the largest in the coun­try. Kolkata’s Eden Gar­dens Sta­dium can ac­com­mo­date over 66,000 spec­ta­tors, the Atal Be­hari Va­j­payee In­ter­na­tional Cricket Sta­dium in Luc­know can seat 50,000.
