Work on Gzb cricket stadium to begin next month
With the Uttar Pradesh government having given its nod for land acquisition in Ghaziabad, work on construction of the country’s biggest international cricket stadium is all set to commence in December, according to an official.
“Preparations are on for holding the second ground-breaking ceremony for 150 projects worth ₹1 lakh crore, including the world-class cricket stadium at Ghaziabad,” the official, not authorised to speak to the media, said.
Chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey has directed officials to hold one-on-one meetings with investors to facilitate the rollout of projects. UP CM Yogi Adityanath had announced that the stadium would have a seating capacity of 75,000, making it the largest in the country. Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Stadium can accommodate over 66,000 spectators, the Atal Behari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow can seat 50,000.
