20 bounc­ers beat four for play­ing ball in restau­rant

A 23-year-old busi­ness­man from Delhi al­leged that he and three of his friends were as­saulted by 18 to 20 bounc­ers on Thurs­day night at an up­scale restau­rant in the city, af­ter an al­ter­ca­tion over play­ing with a plas­tic ball meant for dec­o­ra­tion.

The vic­tim, Sahil Mot­wani, re­ceived five stitches on his head, while his friend, 26-yearold Sau­rabh Nangia, sus­tained mi­nor in­juries. Two of their other friends man­aged to es­cape un­hurt, po­lice said.

A case was reg­is­tered on Fri­day un­der sec­tions 147 , 149, 323 and 506 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code.

“We had gone to the restau­rant to cel­e­brate our friend’s birth­day. As we were leav­ing the place, Sahil started play­ing with a ball. One of the bounc­ers charged at us and started abus­ing us. He was soon joined by other bounc­ers. We some­how man­aged to save our­selves from them, ” said one of the vic­tims.

The po­lice said that they are try­ing to iden­tify the ac­cused. Restau­rant au­thor­i­ties were un­avail­able for com­ment.
