NOIDA : A drunk man allegedly murdered his one-year-old daughter in a fit of rage on Wednesday at his residence in Garhi Chaukhandi.

The girl died during treatment on Thursday morning in Delhi, police said.

The accused, Pankaj, who is reportedly in his thirties, is absconding.

The girl, Ishika, lived with her parents Pankaj and Gudiya, 28, and a seven-year-old sister at a rented accommodation in the Garhi Chaukhandi village under Noida Phase 3.

Her two brothers aged five and three live with relatives in Delhi, police said.

According to family members, Pankaj came home drunk around 6pm on January 30.

“My sister (Gudiya) was feeding her daughter when Pankaj came home. He was extremely drunk at the moment and started assaulting her. After a few minutes, he took his daughter from her lap and hit her head on the floor. My sister (the girl’s mother) was trying to push him away,” said Karan, the minor girl’s uncle.

“After he left, Gudiya called the police and informed her relatives. They took Ishika to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Delhi where she died at 4 am on Thursday. Doctors said she had severe head injuries,” said Karan (who goes by his first name only).

A case of murder has been registered at the phase 3 police station in Noida.

“We are on the lookout for him,” said Akhilesh Tripathi, SHO, Phase 3 police station

Family members said Pankaj, a carpenter by profession, was married to Gudiya nearly 12 years ago.

Karan said that Pankaj often had arguments with Gudiya and had assaulted her on several occasions.
