RAHUL RALLY IN BHOPAL ON FEBRUARY 8

-

BHOPAL: Congress president Rahul Gandhi will kick-off the Lok Sabha election campaign in Madhya Pradesh with a farmers’ rally in Bhopal on February 8. This will be Gandhi’s first visit to the state after the Congress formed government here in December after a gap of 15 years. State Congress media cell head Shobha Oza said the rally is being billed as “Aabhar rally”. Oza said that the arrangement for the rally will be done solely by the Congress party and nothing would be taken from the government. “Unlike the BJP who misused government machinery for their party programmes, the Congress government will not use any resources from the government. Everything will be arranged by the party workers,” she said. BJP spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal denied that the BJP had ever used government machinery for party functions. “It has never been the BJP culture. We have a strong and well-oiled cadre base that takes care of party events,” he said. Political analysts said that by and large the farmers voted for the Congress, and the loan waiver announced by Rahul Gandhi before the elections proved to be a game-changer.
