Posters highlighti­ng Earth Day on April 22 are held up by children participat­ing at the event; Over 1,000 residents, including women, children and senior citizens, gathered on the Sector 86/90 Road near DLF Gardencity on Sunday to celebrate the first-ever Raahgiri Day in the developing sectors of Gurugram. The event was organised by United Associatio­n of New Gurugram and the Raahgiri Foundation team. The event will be held every weekend for the next two months, during this which the Sector 86/90 Road will go completely vehicle free and open for street plays, cycling, sports, art classes, etc. Inspired by the Ciclovia movement in Bogota, Raahgiri Day is a public initiative that began in Gurugram on November 17, 2013, and has since then spread to over 70 cities.
