Gang stealing oil from parked tankers held

GREATERNOI­DA: Three members of a gang were arrested by the Dankuar police Wednesday morning for allegedly stealing fuel from tankers and trucks parked along various expressway­s in DelhiNCR.

The suspects were identified as Kalua, of Jarcha, and Mustafa and Bablu of Hapur. They were arrested from near the Pitahkhera petrol pump under the Dankaur police jurisdicti­on around 12.30am following a chase by the police on the Eastern

Peripheral Expressway.

“Two of their accomplice­s managed to flee the spot and a search is on for them. The gang has other members as well and is one of the several gangs, some of which have been nabbed earlier, active in the district. They steal fuel from trucks parked alongside various expressway­s such as the Eastern Peripheral Expressway or the Yamuna Expressway,” Kumar Rannvijay Singh, superinten­dent of police (rural), said.

Police officials said the gang has been active for the past three years in parts of Delhi-NCR.HTC
