MUMBAI: India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane will play for Delhi Capitals in the next edition of IPL. The trade will be completed by Thursday in time before the window closes. Rahane has a price tag of ~4 crore and it is learnt Royals would be getting two Delhi Capitals players in return. Delhi Capitals have been in talks with Rajasthan Royals regarding Rahane for a few months now to add solidity to their batting. When negotiations first began, Sourav Ganguly—who thinks of Rahane as an all-format player— was still an advisor with Delhi Capitals.

Rahane will be joining a crowded top-order, comprising Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and an equally busy middle-order that has Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer among others. It has been understood that Rahane felt hurt after he was dropped as captain of Rajasthan Royals in favour of Steve Smith, eight games into the last season.

Rahane has been with Rajasthan Royals since 2011 season and led the side in 2018 and the first half of 2019.

BOULT TO PLAY FOR MI

New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult will play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 while pacer Ankit Rajpoot will represent Royals after they were traded by their respective franchises.
