Depicting journey of water through art

-

GURUGRAM: Aqua-Flux, Ebbs and Tides is an exhibition that brings together four artists and their works to pay a tribute to water in its varied forms.

Curated by art connoisseur and visual artist Neeraj Mittra, the exhibition will go public this Sunday evening (see listings) with works of Kolkata-based artists Tapan Mitra, Debangshu Biswas, Subhra K Banerjee and Delhi-based artist Shitangshu Mondal.

The exhibition that is named on the movements and flow of water has been planned and designed in a way where at the beginning, visitors will get a glimpse of the inception of the journey of water, as a stream originating from snow-laden mountains.

As one moves through the exhibition, the stream turns into a river in flux, flowing across mountains, valleys, villages and cities. The works at the end of the exhibition show water in all its might, flowing as high and low tides and finally becoming one with the ocean. Mittra said that through placing the works in a sequence of progression, he is also creating a metaphor of life, where, like water that starts as a stream and ends in a vast expanse of ocean, we too move forward through the ebb and flow of life, good times and adversities, and finally end up at peace, like one with the ocean.

Besides the exhibits, there will also be regular workshops by the artists.

Mittra said, “For me, art is at its crescendo when it reaches the masses. Besides the exhibits, we will also have art workshops from the last week of November. The artists will come down from Kolkata and conduct workshops on paper mache, nature and landscape painting and doodling.”
