GURURGAM: A day after a 27-yearold man was allegedly shot at by two men after an altercation while drinking inside a car in Sector 39, the police on Friday arrested one of them. The police said that the motive behind the incident was personal enmity.

According to the police, the victim, Chetan has a murder charge against him and had come out on bail around two months ago. The arrested man has been identified as Nitin, a resident of Jharsa village in Sector 39. The police arrested him from Jharsa after receiving a tipoff and also confiscated his Hyundai i10 car in which the incident allegedly took place. The other suspect has been identified as Kalu, who is Chetan’s cousin, the police said. He is yet to be arrested.

A case was registered against the suspects under sections 307 and 34 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Arms Act at the Sadar police station on Thursday night. Nitin was sent to judicial custody on Friday.

In the police complaint, Chetan, the victim, alleged that on Thursday around 5pm he received a phone call from Nitin who asked him to come near Sector 40 market. When he reached the spot, Nitin was sitting in his car along with Kalu. “They asked me to sit in the car and have a few drinks with them,” the victim stated in the FIR.

He further alleged that when they reached Sector 39, Nitin stopped his car and Kalu got out saying that he has to answer nature’s call. A few minutes later, he allegedly returned to the car with a pistol and fired two gunshots at the victim. While Kalu fled the spot, Nitin rushed him to a private hospital.

The victim, in the FIR, alleged that Kalu wanted to take revenge from him over a past dispute. He was allegedly upset with the victim for saving the life of man, who was shot at by Kalu’s acquaintance. Basant Kumar, SHO, Sadar police station said, “We are currently checking if Nitin also had a criminal background.”
