GURUGRAM: A 28-year-old man allegedly took his own life by shooting himself with a pistol in village Patli in Farukhnagar early morning on Saturday, said the police. No suicide note was recovered from his possession.

According to the police, the deceased was a graduate, and during his college days, had got into a bad company and abandoned his studies. Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (crime), said that he was a habitual drinker and used to enter into verbal as well as physical confrontations with others in the village.

“We received a call from the family members that their son is lying in a pool of blood and holding a pistol in his hand. A team from Farukhnagar police station rushed to the spot and took him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” he said.

The police said the deceased was a history-sheeter and was involved in many criminal cases. He also used to consume drugs, said the police. Sangwan said he was lodged in Bhondsi jail for keeping counterfeit currency and his jail term had ended four years ago. “Twenty days ago, a new case of illegal weapon was registered against him at Kherki Daula police station,” he said.

The mother in her statement told the police that he had returned home around 11pm and went to his room without eating food.

“When the mother went to give him bed tea she saw him lying in a pool of blood,” said Sangwan. No complaint has been filed by the kin of the deceased.
