NEW DELHI: The Delhi police’s police control room (PCR) staff on Friday attested four men, two of them wanted in at least 10 cases each, of theft, robberies, snatching and pick pocketing, in two separate cases.

Deputy commissioner of police (PCR) Sharat Sinha said that around 2.30pm Friday, a Delhi Transport Corporation bus stopped besides a PCR van stationed at Commonwealth Village in Delhi near Akshardham and the driver of the bus told the police that two suspicious men were on board the bus.

“On this, our officers got onto the bus and asked the driver to shut the doors. The duo was identified and upon being questioned, they got into a scuffle with the officers. They were overpowered and detained. They were identified as Mohammad Shoaid (18) from Hazrat Nizamuddin and Sahid Mohammad (30) from Seelampur. Detailed questioning revealed that Sahid is involved in at least 11 cases of thefts, snatching and pick pocketing,” the DCP said.

Two stolen mobile phones were recovered, he said.

In the second incident, reported around 5pm Friday, the DCP said PCR staff deployed in south Delhi’s Saket, spotted two men jumping out of a moving bus in a suspicious manner.

“Our staff chased the suspects and nabbed them after a brief chase. They were identified as Tofiq Ahmed (18) and his associate Aslam (33), both from Sangam Vihar. Meanwhile, a man who had been running after the two men also reached the spot and claimed they had stolen his wallet. Upon searching, the wallet was recovered from them,” the officer said.

According to the DCP, Aslam allegedly revealed his involvement in ten past criminal cases, mostly of thefts, snatchings and pick pocketing.
