Vaccine dose discounts now extend to air fares

-

Discounts on items ranging from fast food to flights are being offered by Indian firms keen to lure people to get vaccinated against Covid-19, as the economy reopens gradually from weeks of lockdown. IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, launched up to 10% special discounts on base fares for customers who have been administered either one of both Covid-19 vaccine doses, from Wednesday. Sanjay Kumar, chief strategy and revenue officer, IndiGo, said, “Being the largest airline in the country, we feel it is our responsibility to contribute to the national vaccination drive, by encouraging more people towards this common goal.” McDonald’s is offering a 20% discount on meals, online grocer Grofers a month’s subscription to its loyalty program, and home appliances maker Godrej extended product warranties. To claim the discounts, people must show their vaccination certificates issued by the government.
