EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT THROUGH PROFICIENT STRATEGY
Madhya Pradesh Model of Corona Control with PEOPLE'S PARTICIPATION STANDS TALL
The second covid wave is almost under control in Madhya Pradesh. This achievement was made possible through the state government’s well-planned 'Corona Control Management’ and public participation at every level i.e. from the state level to block level. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan worked on a strategy of public participation right from the start of the second wave that has helped control the spread of Covid-19 in the state. A maximum of 13,600 covid cases were detected in one single day in the state and Madhya Pradesh constantly remained at the lower bottom i.e. ranked between 7th to 28th in the country in terms of the number of infected patients. This model of corona control through public participation is today known as the 'MP Model of Corona Control'.
FORMATION OF CRISIS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEES
As soon as the second wave of Covid-19 was sensed, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan constituted state level to blocklevel crisis management committees consisting of representatives of all political parties, public representatives, social workers, and other important/ influential people. They formed committees at the ward and even village levels. These committees were given the responsibilities of the implementation of covid curfew, identification of infected persons and offering them medical assistance. They also ensured distribution of masks, door-to-door testing, and distribution of 3 months free ration to all eligible people. Chief Minister maintained consetent communication with these committees to get on the ground feedback and required guidance was provided.
BETTER MEDICAL HELP TO HOME ISOLATED PATIENTS
One of the important dimensions of this model is to provide better medical care at home and delivery of medicines to home isolated patients at their doorstep to avoid outside contact. This strategy paid rich dividends, as most patients fully recovered at home without getting admitted to a hospital.
‘I AM CORONA VOLUNTEER’ CAMPAIGN
Another important part of the MP model was registration of corona volunteers. More than 1.25 lakh corona volunteers from different parts of the state various assigned duties. They played a role in providing help to covid-infected people and to spread awareness on following corona protocols among non-infected people and helping in vaccination drive. Their efforts were vital in avoiding the further spread of infection in the State.
ARRANGEMENT OF BEDS, MEDICINE AND OXYGEN IN HOSPITALS
Consistent availability of beds, medicine, and oxygen to Covid-19 infected patients has been a part of effective strategy implementation.
The transportation of oxygen was well planned and coordinated with the Defence Ministry/Railway Ministry with help of aircrafts/trains.
The establishment of oxygen plants and new Covid treatment centers were ensured with the help of Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation).
CORONA CONTROL IN VILLAGES THROUGH THE ‘KILL CORONA CAMPAIGN’
The special aspect of the MP Model of Corona Control is that its effort was spread across the state to the rural interiors and not just limited to the urban areas. Through ‘Kill Corona’, an intensive campaign was launched to identify persons with Covid-19 symptoms and provide immediate medication and prevent them from spreading infections.
