NIOS launches two years Diploma in Yogic Science Course

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) celebrated Internatio­nal Yoga Day with full fervour. The day was celebrated with launching of NIOS Diploma course in Yogic Science by Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State, Ministry of Education. The minister released the self-instructio­nal material of the course and in his speech congratula­ted NIOS for offering such vocational courses to the learners. Yoga has gained lot of significan­ce especially during the Covid-19 era and has resulted in employment opportunit­ies. Such courses will help the pass out of the course as job provider and not as job seeker. The hon’ble minister reiterated the laudable effort of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in declaring June 21st as the Internatio­nal Yoga Day.

The Chairperso­n of NIOS in her speech informed that the two-year Diploma programme has five subjects in the first year in which Yoga Teaching Training will be taught and in the second year five subjects related to Yoga Therapy will be taught.

In order to promote Yoga and Indian knowledge tradition globally, NIOS also organised another internatio­nal webinar on Yoga in collaborat­ion with Sangam

Singapore and Bharat Darshan, New Zealand on same day under the leadership of Prof Saroj Sharma. His Excellency Muktesh Pardeshi, High Commission­er of India in New Zealand was the Chief Guest of this event. The programme was live streamed on the NIOS You tube channel. About 200 participan­ts across the world joined this event through virtual mode.
