GURUGRAM: The police on Sunday arrested three people for allegedly kidnapping an employee of a car service centre in Kherki Daula after the owner refused to give in to their demand for extortion. Police said the victim was rescued within a few hours of his kidnap.

A joint team of officials from the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) police post and Badshahpur police station reached the car service centre in Kherki Daula’s Narsinghpur village in 15 minutes of them receiving information late Saturday night that some people allegedly assaulted an employee — identified as Sombir Singh — and kidnapped him, at the station.

Upasna (goes by first name), DCP (south), said the owner of the car service centre informed that a man — identified as Rahul — visited his shop and started assaulting Singh. “The suspect is a resident of Kherki Daula and was demanding money... When the owner refused to pay extortion, three men arrived at the spot and assaulted and kidnapped Singh,” said the DCP.

A case was registered against the three suspects under sections 34 (common intention), 365 (kidnapping) and 387 (extortion) of the IPC at the Badshahpur police station.

The DCP said several teams were formed to probe the case, and police rescued Singh on Sunday, who was allegedly beaten up by the suspects, and arrested Rahul, Satbir alias Bhola, a resident of Kherki Daula and Mahesh, a resident of Narsinghpur from Palwal.

“All the three suspects have a criminal history,” she said, adding that a car used in the commission of the crime has been recovered.
