GURUGRAM: A six-year-old girl was found allegedly murdered near her home in IMT Manesar on Friday night. Police said they have apprehended a juvenile in the matter and are completing legal proceedings in the case.

The girl’s father, who works at a rubber factory, lodged a complaint where he said after he returned from work around 9:30pm on Friday, his daughter took ₹10 from him and went to a nearby shop to purchase a fruit drink.

“I ate dinner and lied down as I was feeling some discomfort in stomach. When my daughter did not return, I went looking for her. I saw my neighbour’s elder brother carrying her over his shoulder and she was soaked in blood. She had several injury marks on her face and head. He informed us that my daughter was found lying in a field with multiple injuries,” said the girl’s father in the police complaint.

Police said the girl was rushed to a private hospital and then referred to another hospital, where she was declared dead. The girl’s father suspects his daughter was killed by the neighbour, whose elder brother was carrying her over his shoulders. “In the evening, the neighbour had come to my room and passed strange remarks. He told me that I loved my elder daughter more than my younger one (the deceased girl),” he said alleging that the suspects tried to wipe his daughter’s private parts.

An FIR was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender) of the Indian Penal Code at Manesar police station on Saturday, said police.

A medical board of doctors conducted the post-mortem of the girl. As per their preliminary report, the girl suffered six to eight injuries on her face and head which were likely inflicted with a brick or a stone. “There are no injuries on private parts, but sexual assault cannot be ruled out. We have sent vaginal swabs to the forensic lab,” said a doctor requesting anonymity.

Subhash boken, spokesperson of Gurugram police, said they have apprehended a juvenile from Manesar and investigation is underway. “We will take action as per law,” he said.
