Nat’l sportswoman hurt in Nuh accident

-

GURUGRAM: A 26-year-old national taekwondo player was injured after a speeding motorcycle allegedly rammed her scooter while she was on her way to a market in Nuh on Sunday, said the police on Monday.

On Sunday, my sister and I were on our way to Tauru market to buy some clothes, alleged the victim, adding, “I was riding my scooter, and as we reached Sohna Road, two men rammed into the scooter in a bid to kill me. We fell down from the vehicle, and suffered a fracture and deep injuries. The men fled from the spot. The registration number plate of the motorcycle was missing.”

The Taekwondoin alleged that “she was targetted” after a case was registered against 26 men on May 6, based on her complaint, for allegedly trolling her on social media platforms, morphing her pictures, and posting obscene comments about her.

The police, however, said that it appeared to be an “accident”, and the woman — a resident of Tauru’s Padheni village in Nuh — suffered injuries in her legs and hands. “I have represented India four times between 2012 and 2015, and I am active on social media platforms... A few men from the district, however, try to defame me continuously. I had complained to the police about this in April, but they failed to take action, following which I filed a complaint in the court and a case was registered against the 26 men at the Sadar Tauru police station on May 6,” she said, requesting anonymity.

She stopped practicing due to an injury. I aspired to get into politics.

The woman also alleged that several players of different sports have also been involved in trolling her, and they threatened her of dire consequences after they were booked by the police.

Vimal Rai, station house officer of Sadar Tauru police station, said a case has been registered against the suspects and a probe is underway.

No arrests have been made so far, said the police.
