Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Hero We Care, Hero MotoCorp has joined hands with Hindustan Times to encourage citizens to recognize the urgency and make a proactive shift to improve safety on our roads.

The Be a Road Hero 3.0 campaign, which builds awareness through print, radio and digital media, aims to create Road Heroes who will take a pledge and set an example for the community. The campaign aims at making our roads safer for both vehicle occupants and pedestrians.

Fatalities from road accidents have been steadily going up. However, a large percentage of these fatalities could have been avoided if basic safety measures, such as wearing seat belts and helmets, adhering to the speed limit and lanes, and offering timely help to accident victims, were followed.

According to the NCRB report, in 2020 alone, 1.2 lakh cases of road accident deaths were reported. The number of hit and run cases among them was 41,196. “This is why we decided to start a public campaign which would raise awareness among the masses on the topic of road safety. We are delighted to have partnered with HT Media for the third edition of the campaign and have received an impressive response so far,” said Bharatendu Kabi, Head Corporate Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility, Hero MotoCorp.

HT School aims to generate road safety awareness among students from classes IV-XII by motivating them to take a pledge to be ‘Road Hero’. For this, HT School is offering a Road Safety Video Course and Quiz for the students and certification will be given to those appearing for both.

The Road Safety Course by HT School is a self-paced, 28-minute-long online course for 9-18-year-old students. Students need to register themselves and login with their credentials on the HT School website after taking the pledge to access the course.

Once they have completed the course, they also have to take part in a ‘Be a Road Hero’ road safety quiz. Once this has been done, students can download their Road Hero e-certificate.

“I hold the need for road safety in highest regard and try to encourage young Springdalians to follow what constitutes the right road behavior. Hindustan Times and Hero MotoCorp Ltd. – The Be a Road Hero 3.0 Campaign will surely prove to be an excellent initiative as it urges the vehicle users to follow all road safety measures like wearing helmets, seat belts, helping accident victims etc,” said Ritu Madan, Principal, Springdales School, Dhaula Kua.

“I truly appreciate the wonderful efforts taken by Hindustan Times to sensitize our young learners for the cause of road safety. ‘Hero We Care’ is a very good program in which HT School has collaborated with Hero MotoCorp Ltd to educate and spread awareness on road safety. The students were excited to participate in this online event and received certificates. ‘With an alert mind and watchful eyes, be the driver of your life’,” said Poonam S Rampal, Principal, Air Force Golden Ju bilee Institute, Subroto Park.

“This is an amazing initiative that will help educate the children about road safety, thus creating a positive impact on the society. This action will hopefully lead to people being responsible on roads and prevent accidents that result in many deaths every year,” said Navya Garg, student, Class 10, DPS, RK Puram.
