Ensuring good health for all

Chhattisgarh Government provides free health services to its people under the Universal Health Scheme and has also implemented a scheme to fight malnutrition. The state provides financial assistance of up to Rs20 lakh for treatment under the CM’s Special Health Assistance Scheme

To make children up to six years of age free of malnutrition and anaemia, and women between 15 to 49 years free of anaemia, the Mukhya Mantry Suposhan Yojana was launched in the entire state from 02 October 2019 with public cooperation and public participation.

Through free-of-cost nutritious food, 2.22 lakh children have recovered from malnutrition and more than 1 lakh state women have overcome anaemia as a result of receiving this food in the last four years.

Similarly, with the aim of providing healthcare facilities to the people living in the slums of the urban areas, free treatment has been provided to 27 lakh people. More than 120 mobile medical teams have been engaged for this project to make the Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum Swasthya Yojana a success. Around 27 lakh people have been given free medicines by the mobile medical unit team in the slums of 169 urban bodies of the state by setting up 38,000 camps.

In view of the success of the scheme, this year Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced that the scheme will be expanded to all the urban body areas and 60 new mobile medical units will be started.

Under this scheme, 120 mobile medical units equipped with doctors, medical units, paramedical teams, medical equipment and medicines are providing health services to the people at home in slums. Apart from providing services such as pathology tests to more than 6 lakh patients, free medicines have been given to more than 22 lakh patients. Till now, 2,34,553 labourers have benefitted from the scheme.
