‘Navy has steadfastly protected the nation’: Modi leads tributes
NAVY DAY IS MARKED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ROLE OF NAVY IN ‘OPERATION TRIDENT’ DURING THE 1971 WAR
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended greetings on the occasion of Navy Day and said that the force has “steadfastly” protected the nation.
“Best wishes on Navy Day to all navy personnel and their families. We in India are proud of our rich maritime history. The Indian Navy has steadfastly protected our nation and has distinguished itself with its humanitarian spirit during challenging times,” PM Modi tweeted. December 4 is celebrated as Navy Day, every year, to acknowledge Indian Navy’s role and commemorate its achievements in ‘Operation Trident’ during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
The Navy showcased its combat prowess in an event to mark the Navy Day at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
President Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest at the event.
“The gallant men and women of the Indian Navy are serving a greater cause with utmost dedication, and I am extremely proud of each one of you,” said Murmu in a tweet. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge also took to Twitter to share his wishes for the day. “Our sincere gratitude and salutations to the guardians of our seas — the Indian Navy on #IndianNavyDay ” he tweeted.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh tweeted: “Greetings to all @IndianNavy personnel on #NavyDay. The Indian Navy is at the forefront of keeping our country safe by ensuring impeccable maritime security. The nation is proud of Indian Navy’s valour, courage, commitment and professionalism.”
Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral R Hari Kumar also paid tributes to the bravehearts of India for the supreme sacrifice. “We pay homage to supreme sacrifices of our Bravehearts & gratitude to our veterans,” spokesperson Indian Navy tweeted while quoting the navy chief admiral.
