MAN ACQUITTED OF CHARGES UNDER TADA

JALANDHAR: The court of additional district and sessions judge Arunvir Vashisht acquitted alleged terrorist Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi in a murder case registered against him. He was also acquitted under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities ( Prevention Act) TADA Act and Arms Act.

According to informatio­n available, on June 8, 1991, a case was registered at Nakodar police station after unknown people opened fire on CPM candidate comrade Varinder Kumar Gagan during his party rally at Litra village and killed four people, including two of Gagan’s security men and one from public.

The case was registered on the complaint of Hardeep Kumar, a resident of Jamsher village of district. Initially, Kulvir Singh, Amritpal Singh, Gurdeep Singh and one of their accomplice­s was booked under various sections of the IPC, TADA and Arms Act. Sukhi was brought on production warrant into this case on December 2012 and nominated into this case. HTC
