Renew recognitio­n under RTE, Jalandhar DEO to private schools

JALANDHAR: The district education department has asked all private schools to renew recognitio­n in compliance with the Right to Education (RTE) Act, which states that schools which do not conform to norms shall cease to function.

District education officer ( elementary) Jaspal Singh said as per the Punjab gover nment rules under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, every private school must get recognitio­n from the district education officer (elementary).

The DEO informed that the recognitio­n given to private schools under the act is valid till March 31. “After recognitio­n of private schools was made mandatory under the Right to Education Act, all private, aided and unaided schools have to apply for renewal of recognitio­n,” he added.

The DEO has appealed to management­s of all private schools to submit self-declaratio­ns to the the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) office at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Ladowali road.
