Hunar se rozgar tak felicitation ceremony held
JALANDHAR: The CT Group of Institutions organised a felicitation ceremony under the tourism department’s free training scheme ‘Hunar se rozgar tak’ (HSRT) at the CT Institute of Hotel Management, Shahpur. The ceremony culminated free training in food production and housekeeping utility to students. The batches were trained for food and beverage services (waiters) and bakery and patisseries production. Pawan Kumar Tinu, chief parliamentary secretary, was the chief guest, while Basanta Rajkumar, executive director, tourism department, was the guest of honour. Addressing the students, Tinu said, “Government of India, ministry of tourism has launched the scheme for creation of employable skills amongst youth belonging to economically weaker sections.”
KMV holds farewell function
JALANDHAR: The students of the post-graduate department of computer science and applications of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised a farewell party for their outgoing seniors. The hosts had prepared an emotional documentary, a collection of the memories of the seniors’ good times spent at KMV. Harkamaldeep Kaur of MSc, semester 4 won the title of ‘miss farewell’, while Rajwinder Kaur was adjudged as ‘miss it’. Anuradha of BCA, semester 6, won the ‘miss gorgeous’ crown, while her classmate Sujata was declared the ‘miss charming’.
Apeejay students shine in GNDU exam
JALANDHAR: Students of the Bachelors of design, semester 7, of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, won the top positions in the exam held by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, in December 2014. Aanchal Gupta and Gurleen Kaur secured the second position, while Jyot Khurana and Arupriya came third. Harsimran Kaur Narula secured the fourth position.
Colouring competition held at Ivy World
JALANDHAR: A colouring competition was organized at Ivy World School wherein students took part in events in their respective age groups.
Last date of availing LPU’s Early Decision Benefit
JALANDHAR: Lovely Professional University is implementing its early deci- sion benefit (EDB) program wherein students will be paid the tuition fee of the last year. This year, international students are also eligible to avail the EDB program. The application/registration deadline for EDB is May 30. LPU chancellor, Ashok Mittal said: “For the benefit of meritorious students, we always think in consonance with top global educational institutions. EDB program is unique as under it student not only pays the lower fee but is also benefitted with higher scholarship in certain cases.”
Akash Saxena memorial award given
JALANDHAR: The department of computer science and engineering of Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology organised the Akash Saxena Memorial Lecture on information security-auditing and standards in memory of Akash Saxena, who was a student of third year in the department. The Akash Saxena memorial award is presented every year to a BTech (CSE) student with the highest CGPA in the sixth semester. This year the award of `10,000 was presented to Himesh Kumar from 2011 batch.
Teachers invited for World Punjabi Conference
JALANDHAR: Three teachers of Punjabi Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College have been invited to present papers at the World Punjabi Conference being held in Canada on June 13 and 14. College principal GS Samra said Dr Kulwant Sandhu, Prof Gopal Singh Buttar and Dr Sukhdev Nagra would present papers on contemporary issues pertaining to Punjabi language, literature and culture. Dr Nagra also informed that the Punjabi department of the institution is the oldest Punjabi department in the state.
