KARNAL: Following non-payment of fees, management of a private school in Sector 7 here struck off names of 26 students on Friday.

Meanwhile, parents of students gathered at the mini-secretariat here and held a protest against the management of Dyal Singh Public School and the district authorities.

President of Abhibhavak (guardians) Ekta Sangh Dinesh Narula (whose wards do not study in Dyal Singh Public School) alleged that the school was charging fees for computer classes, digital classrooms and other in the violation of rules.

They lodged their protest with the sub-divisional magistrate Rajiv Mehta.

However, rubbishing the charges of the Sangh about any wrongdoing by the school, principal Nina Rai in a press statement said that fee and fund regulatory committee, under the chairmanship of the commissioner of Rohtak division, had recently rejected complaints made by the guardians with regards to fees.

The school has a strength of 2,650 students and a section of parents are protesting for several months against the school for charging fees for smart classes, development charges etc.

Following the complaints, fee cheques of 61 students of the academic session 2014-15 were kept with the local district education officer till the issues is settled.

“As the complaint was disposed off by the competent authority, the fee cheques were returned to the school. But as 31 cheques were bounced in the bank due to insufficient balance, the parents did not respond to the repeated reminders to deposit fee pending since the last academic year. Once dues are cleared, students will be re-admitted in the school,” said the principal.
