Couple among 3 held for murder of Moga villager
MOGA: The district police claimed to have solved a blind murder case of Gurjant Singh of Smadh Bhai village under Baghapurana subdivision with the arrest of three people, including a couple on Saturday.
Gurjant Singh (27) was murdered with a sharp-edged weapon by some unidentified people and his body was recovered from a sewerage pit outside the village on June 28. The Baghapurana police had registered a criminal case against unidentified people under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code in the statement of Jeet Singh, father of Gurjant Singh on June 29 in this regard.
Jatinder Singh Khaira, senior superintendent of police, said, “An investigation, which was conducted by a special investigation team (SIT) comprising superintendent of police Rajeshwar Singh, DSP Balwinder Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Baghapurana Partap Singh, incharge of Moga CIA staff Prem Singh Bhangu and sub-inspector Ved Parkash, found that Gurjant Singh was murdered for his illicit relations with a woman of his village. Gurjant was killed by the husband of the woman who threw his body in a sewerage pit with the help of another man.”
The police said that the arrested persons have been identified as Amandeep Singh, his wife Naginder Kaur, residents of Smadh Bhai, and his brother-inlaw Maninder Singh, a resident of Baghapurana.
