Congress leader’s son shoots self accidental­ly, hurt

JALANDHAR: Uday Chaudhary, 26, son of local Congress leader Manjinder Singh Chaudhary, sustained serious injuries after he accidental­ly shot himself outside the Taj Restaurant at Garha in the city on Saturday night.

Reports said Uday Chaudhary, a resident of New Jawahar Nagar, accidently pulled the trigger while testing a pistol which belonged to his friend.

Uday was rushed to a private hospital on Link Road where his condition is stated to be stable.

It took the doctors several hours to remove the bullet from his abdomen following a surgery.

Manjinder Singh is former district Congress president and son of late MLA Darshan Singh Chaudhary. Manjinder said his son had gone with some of friends on Saturday night and he received a call after half an hour about the incident.

The police have initiated investigat­ion into this matter. They are still to record Uday’s statement.
