LUDHIANA: As supporters of fasting Surat Singh Khalsa, after hearing about his deteriorating health, have gathered at Hasanpur village in Mullanpur and surrounding areas, paramilitary forces and Punjab police personnel have been deployed in the area sensing the gravity of the situation.

A curfew-like situation can be witnessed at the village. Ahead of the protest rally in support of Surat Singh Khalsa, the police have arrested Sikh leaders from their houses on Saturday night. The entry of his supporters and mediapersons to the village has also been prohibited by the police.

The preparations by the police and administration also indicate shifting Surat Singh Khalsa to a hospital for medical treatment.

Hundreds of supporters of Khalsa gathered at LudhianaFero ze pur road, but were stopped by the police force before entering the village. Later, the supporters were taken into police custody as preventative measure.

Surat Singh Khalsa is on vow unto death, demanding release of Sikh prisoners since January 16. His health has been deteriorating since then. HTC
