EX-KCF CHIEF HELD, RELEASED

-

GURDASPUR: Former Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) chief Bhai Wassan Singh Zaffarwal, who is also the national general secretary of the United Akali Dal, was taken into preventive custody in the wee hours of Sunday from his house at Zaffarwal village near Dhariwal town of Gurdaspur district.

The police move was meant to prevent him from taking part in a ‘Vangar March’ from Amritsar to Ludhiana on July 21 (Tuesday) in support of Bhai Surat Singh, who has been on hunger strike seeking release of jailed political Sikh prisoners.

Zaffarwal was released in the afternoon after he assured the police that he was not going to participate in the proposed march from militant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale’s native Rode village in Amritsar to Hasanpur village in Ludhiana. The Sangarsh Committee of Panthic Organisations is organising the march.
