While Greece will be in the news globally, investors will be keeping a close eye on the GST bill and first-quarter results by major companies back home this week.

MONDAY, JULY 20

ECB PAYMENT: Greece is expected to pay back 3.5 billion euros of debt to the European Central Bank and around 700 million euros in arrears to the IMF. The payments have been made possible after the European Union cleared a short-term loan of 7.16 billion euros on Friday. Greece has 25 billion euros of debt repayment obligation­s in 2015.

TUESDAY, JULY 21

MONSOON SESSION OF PARLIAMENT: The monsoon session of Parliament will begin on July 21 and go on till August 13. The government has lined up around 18 bills to be taken up during the session, including the land bill, real estate bill and GST bill.

HYUNDAI CRETA LAUNCH: The company’s first offering in the compact SUV space is expected to be a blockbuste­r success, having notched up over 10,000 bookings even before its launch.

FRIDAY, JULY 24

REPORT OF RS PANEL ON GST: The parliament­ary committee examining the draft GST Bill is expected to submit its final report to Rajya Sabha. The bill was referred to the committee headed by BJP MP Bhupendra Yadav in May. The bill, which has been passed in the Lok Sabha, is stuck in the Upper House.
