VB ARRESTS SDM OFFICE CLERK FOR TAKING BRIBE

JALANDHAR: Vigilance bureau sleuths arrested Amit Anand, a clerk working in the office of sub-divisional magistrate, for taking bribe.

Jagjivan Ram of Mithapur lodged a complaint saying that the clerk was demanding `1000 for delayed entries of the date of birth of his two children in official records.

A team of police inspectors Sukhwinder Singh, Harjit Singh, Karamveer Singh and two government employees, who acted as witnesses, laid a trap and nabbed Anand red-handed in the act.

A case under sections 7 and 13 ( 2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused.
