Bengal moves SC against ban on CM photos in ads
NEW DELHI: The West Bengal government on Monday moved the Supreme Court asking it to review its May 13 judgment that restricted use of photographs of political leaders except the President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice of India in official media advertisements. In its review petition, the Mamata Banerjee administration said the SC order was “not in consonance with the country’s federal structure” and hence needs a relook. The Tamil Nadu government has already filed a similar petition. Asking the SC to modify its judgement, the state said photographs of CMs should be published to connect with the masses.
