-

BHOPAL: The CBI has registered a preliminary inquiry into the death of Vijay Singh Patel, the pharmacist who was an accused in three cases in the Vyapam scam, and was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel in Chhattisgarh earlier this year. Patel, 35, was earlier arrested by the STF as he was allegedly involved in getting candidates selected in different examinations conducted by the PEB with the help of his links in the racket. He had gone to Chhattisgarh to meet his wife but left abruptly and went missing. A few days later, he was found dead in a hotel in Kanker town. His cell phone is yet to be found. It is not known whom he had met last in Kanker and what was the purpose of his stay at the hotel, when his wife stayed in a nearby town.
