MP Assembly: House adjourned on Day 1

BHOPAL: TV journalist Akshay Singh and medical student Namrata Damor’s names echoed in the state assembly on Monday, the first day of the monsoon session. During obituary references, leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare mentioned the names of Singh and Damor. However, parliamentary affairs minister Narottam Mishra and several others in the ruling party objected to his act saying obituary references could not be made without the Speaker’s permission to which Katare asked when Unesco could pay tributes to Singh, why the MLAs couldn’t do so. Later, Speaker Sitasharan Sharma cut short the proceedings, asked the House to observe a 2-minute silence for the departed and adjourned the proceedings for the day.
