Apropos the article, ‘Thank you, a magic wand’ in the column ‘Spice of Life’, these two words are miraculous. AG Gardiner, in his essay on ‘Saying Please’, says ‘Please’ and ‘thank you’ are lubricating oils which keep the machinery of life running smoothly. Courtesy costs us nothing.
