DEPT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEBARS SCHOOLS THIS TIME WHICH HAVE ALREADY PARTICIPATED TWICE

JALANDHAR: The department of science and technology has asked the district science supervisors to ensure participation of new schools in the annual Innovation of Science Pursuit for Inspire Research (Inspire) exhibition awards jointly organized by state school education department and department of science and technology.

Baljinder Singh, district science supervisor informed that this time the DST has asked to encourage private schools to participate in the exhibition.

“They have asked to register maximum private schools par- ticipation. The schools which have participated twice in the exhibition will not be allowed to participate this time. We have asked the private and the rest of the aided schools to register their students for the exhibition to be conducted in the last week of August,” he said.

As per the scheme of the ministry of science and technology, each selected student from the school is provided an amount of 5,000 through the ministry out of which half of the money is spent on preparing the model project while rest is spent on transportation.

The ministry started the project in 2008-09 to attract talent in the field of science at an early age and thus build human resources pool for strengthening and expanding science and technology system.

“Earlier, we used to get a cheque of `5,000 for the selected students but this time the students will get their cash prize in their own accounts,” he said.

Each school has been asked to send five entries from Class 6 to 10 each have to jalandhardss@ gmail.com till July 24.
