BJP LEADER JOINS PROBE IN NISHAN SINGH SUICIDE CASE

JALANDHAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pradeep Khullar, who was booked in the Nishan Singh suicide case, joined the police investigat­ion on Tuesday.

Khullar came to the Basti Bawa Khel police station on Monday night was called by city police on Tuesday and he called him innocent in this case.

On June 11, Nishan Singh committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house after he was allegedly harassed by some persons in a power theft case.

On the basis of complaint filed by the deceased’s wife, Seema, the Basti Bawa Khel police registered a case against Khullar, Kala, Kasturi Lal and Subash Chander, an employee of the electricit­y board under sections 306 (abetting suicide) and 34 (committing the crime with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The three others booked in the case have already been given clean chit by the police.

Further investigat­ions in the case are on, police said.
