Civil hospital staff observe 2-hour pen-down strike

BATHINDA: Health workers of the civil hospital here stopped work for two hours and staged a dharna at the courtyard of the hospital against the police administra­tion for not arresting the people accused of murder of Sarabjit Singh. Sarabjit Singh’s body had found in a private water reservoir near the Green City locality of on July 5. All staff unions of the health department had formed a joint action committee and Tuesday’s protest was organised under the flag of the joint action committee (JAC). The union leaders alleged that the police were not acting in the case seriously and showing disinteres­tedness in arresting the accused. Convener of the JAC Gagandeep Singh said that all workers of the civil hospital will be going on pendown strike for two hours daily till July 25. If the police did not arrest the accused within five days, the JAC will intensify the agitation from July 27.
