Driver booked for causing death by negligence

NURMAHAL: The Bilga police have booked a four-wheeler driver on charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence. The police said Puran Chand, a resident of Ludhiana, complained that his nephew Harish Kumar was returning home on July 21 when he was hit by vehicle near Bahadar Pur village on the Nurmahal-Phillaur road. He succumbed to his injuries. A case under sections 279 (rash driving on public road), 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (mischief) of the IPC has been registered against Gurdeep Singh of Kukkar Pind village in Jalandhar.
