Sangharsh committee misleading Khalsa: SSP

LUDHIANA: Ludhiana rural SSP Ravcharan Singh Brar has chided members of the sangharsh committee for allegedly misguiding Sikh activist Surat Singh Khalsa.

He said they would talk directly to Khalsa on the issue instead of holding meetings with the committee.

Talking to the media on Tuesday night, the SSP said the officers held a meeting with the committee members on Tuesday. It was conveyed to the committee that their demands could not be accepted as there were some constitutional obligations, he added. “Some of the protesters were roaming around the village with swords and bricks in their hands. It was threat to the law and order situation in the area and people were feeling unsafe. As many as 43 supporters were held, 30 have been released and the rest are still in police custody. The police have registered a case against them for disturbing the law and order situation,” he said.

Commenting on the shifting of Khalsa to the hospital, the SSP said saving the life of a person is the duty of the government.
