ROHTAK: With the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) deciding not to conduct the reexamination of the All India PreMedical Entrance Test (AIPMT) in the city, thousands of students from the region will have to go to Delhi to reappear in the test on July 25.

The Rohtak police had unearthed leakage of answer keys of the test in May.

About 4,000 students, most of them from the state, had taken the exam at 17 examination centres in the city. The Supreme Court had directed the CBSE to conduct the exam again after the leakage of answer key came to the fore. But they will have to go Delhi at the new centres designated by the CBSE.

“Students who were earlier given Rohtak centre will be asked to appear for the test in Delhi, as this centre has been discontinued,” said an AIPMT official while speaking to Hindustan Times.

The official, however, refused to divulge details about the Delhi centres. “Only students can get the details by using password on the AIPMT website,” he said.

CBSE controller of examination KK Chaudahry could not be contacted. AIPTM deputy secretary US Bodh refused to comment saying he was not authorised to speak on the issue.

“All students should not be held responsible for the leakage. This is a kind of punishment for students as the CBSE could have shifted the Rohtak centre to the nearby cities instead of Delhi,” said a student preparing for the exam.

Another reason behind the CBSE’s decision is being seen as the failure of the Rohtak police in arresting Roop Singh Dangi, the alleged mastermind behind the leakage.

The CBSE is taking all possible precautions and has announced a dress code for the test after debarring 44 candidates who allegedly received answer keys during the test on May 3.

THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS FROM THE REGION WILL HAVE TO VISIT NATIONAL CAPITAL TO APPEAR IN THE TEST, BEING RE-CONDUCTED ON JULY 25
