Tata Camelot is a `1,800crore building project having 92,100 flats in 19 towers, ranging between 12 and 35 storeys, and is slated to be raised on 53.39 acres at Kansal, SAS Nagar, adjoining Chandigarh The Supreme Court has stayed constructi­on of the project. The PIL challengin­g the project has been transferre­d to the Delhi high court from the Punjab and Haryana high court in 2014 after it was alleged that the beneficiar­ies included some of the judges of the Punjab and Haryana high court and top bureaucrat­s of the state The PIL had raised issue of ‘permissibi­lity’ of the project and alleged that the project fell within the catchment area of Sukhna Lake and was in proximity of the wildlife sanctuary, declared a forest reserve area The arguments are on before a Delhi HC bench. In March 2015, the Chandigarh administra­tion opposed the project before the HC and also questioned the approval given by the Punjab government.
