DRUG ADDICT BOOKED FOR RAPING WIFE

KAPURTHALA: Police have booked a drug addict, a resident of Kapurthala, on the charges for rape and brutal sexual assault of his wife on the complaint of the 25-year-old woman. The accused has been identified as Balwant Singh alias Rimple.

The first-information report (FIR) registered on a complaint from the woman states that the woman’s husband used to sexually abuse her and thrashed her, if she refused to comply with his wishes. “I repeatedly brought the torture to the notice of my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. However, my pleas were ignored and I was told that it was my duty to keep my husband happy,” she adds in her complaint, adding that her mother-in-law then also asked her to bring dowry is she was so unhappy with her husband. The police had booked the accused on the charges of rape, while the family members had been booked for demanding dowry.
