Child’s death: School principal, teacher summoned

MUKTSAR: The Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Wednesday summoned the principal of a private school on the Jalalabad road in Muktsar along with a teacher after a Class 2 student died on July 10 after being allegedly punished by the teacher.

The principal and the teachers have been directed to appear before the commission on July 28. Eight-year-old Amritpal Singh died after the Hindi teacher allegedly asked him to complete his work in a closed room. The school authorities, however, denied the charge saying the child was already suffering from a heart disease.
