Scholarships for deserving students

Apropos the news report, ‘Threefold increase in MBBS/BDS fee in Punjab government colleges’ (July 11), there is help for the poor and deserving students in the form of scholarships. Amritsar Medical and Dental Alumni Association of North America (AMDAANA), an association of graduates of Government Medical College, Amritsar, (GMCA), settled in the US and Canada, has planned a scholarship project for the students enrolled at the GMCA. The project is fully funded by AMDAANA. We have planned four scholarships worth Rs 25,000 each for each class and 20 scholarships in all. These will be awarded beginning the current academic year and the application process will be announced soon.
